Birkin Owart, DDS, MDS

Brikin-OwartDr. Owart grew up on a family-run orchard near Ellensburg, WA. He attended Central Washington University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Music, graduating magna cum laude and continued there finishing a Master of Science in Biology. He was drawn to the dental profession as a means of combining interests in art, science, psychology and helping people from all walks of life. He matriculated at the University of Washington School of Dentistry where his research resulted in publications in the Archives of Oral Biology and Journal of Oral Rehabilitation. He received many awards during his time at UWSOD, including Outstanding Dental Student by the Academy of Osseointegration.

After UWSOD, he practiced general dentistry in Central Washington for a few years before accepting a position at University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine Endodontic Residency Program where he completed his endodontic training and received a Master of Dental Science. His thesis focused on the relationship between the emotional intelligence of health care providers and patient satisfaction. He has been recognized by his professors and peers for his technical skills, warm chair-side manner and compassionate patient care.

During Dr. Owart’s path to endodontics, he has engaged in countless hours of community service helping homeless adults, at-risk youths and migrant workers from all over Western Washington. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Owart enjoys competitive running and cycling, traveling, spending time with friends/family and music composition! Of note, he has composed and recorded several original saxophone instrumental pieces and is proficient in the German language.

Dr. Owart enjoys engaging with patients, helping them to feel at ease. He is happy to be back home in the Northwest and looks forward to meeting you!
